About Clear Communication
This used to be my “About” page.
But then I read Seth Godin’s Fresh Fish Here post:
“Well, of course the fish is fresh. You’re not going to sell me old fish, are you?” and “Of course it’s ‘here’. Where else would you be selling the fish?” and finally, “We know it’s fish. We can smell it!”
The worst thing you can do is be boring and vague.
The second worst thing you can do is be boring and verbose and obvious.”
So, About Clear Communication:
I started the business in September 2005, because I felt it was time to open up to the challenges and relative insecurity which lay beyond a comfortable, if interesting, existence in a huge multi-national.
The insecurity is important, because it makes me edgier, 110% committed to my clients’ success and brave about hunting for new opportunities.
And the opportunities are exciting:
Today, I work for a worldwide association, multi-national giants, an exciting internet start-up as well as a number of small businesses here in Cork. I’m also busy on a project which I hope will improve the lives of poor people in the developing world.
For me, good, clear communication makes a difference in many ways. In large organisations, it helps employees understand how and why their contribution is important, as well as ensuring that they understand the overall business objectives. At the same time, a strong communication plan (which need not cost the earth) will add significantly to the bottom line of a smaller business.
